Allow me to talk about the life moment I am having right now. In 2022, when I had nowhere to go because of my post #Kaali situation politically and existentially, I went to Amazonia. People called it forced exile but I call it rebirth.
@thomman_tomjoseph , my friend, a radical theologist, my lifeline these days sent me a ticket to travel from Toronto to Brazil with a note that I wasn’t pushed to an edge by the turbulences but to a new beginning. @shaji_brazil , a Malayalee Brazilian Climate Activist, was already preparing a caipirinha(a traditional Brazilian drink) to host me at Santarem, a historical town in the heart of Amazon Rainforest. My whole initiation of belonging into the Afro Indigenous Quilombola community started over the months in 2023. I had a life transforming experience of becoming extended family to the community, which led to @saracura_the_film . Saracura the Quilombo(indigenous territory) was named after Sara, the Curendeiro(the witch doctor). I named my film also after her. It is my humble return of love, trust and affection I receive in abundance from my people of Saracura.
I screened the 13 minute short film “Proof of Concept” on 23 April, 2025 to the community at Saracura to seek their blessings. Saracura, proof of concept short was made possible only by the soulful participation of community and my crew, kind support of contributors who backed my GoFundMe campaign and @torontoartscouncil . I have developed the film into a ecological horror feature which I will be pitching to my production partners. Hope to go to floors in the coming months.

Saracura the falling island(due to climate change) situated in the amazon rainforest do not have electricity and it is also flooded during this season of the year. So we had to screen it only during the day as the location is inaccessible during the night for a gathering. Sun was shining on the screen and also on the faces of my people.
